+Where does the bus status come from?

From each region’s official school transportation website, the same page the boards point parents to. We check them every three minutes on school mornings and every 20 minutes the rest of the day, and show when we last checked. If our page and the official site ever disagree, the official site is right.

+Are schools closed when buses are cancelled?

Usually not. In most regions a cancellation means buses and vans don’t run, but schools stay open for students who can get there safely. When schools close too, the board says so separately, and we show it as “Schools closed”.

+What time are bus cancellations announced?

Most consortia make the call early, before the first routes leave, and post it on their own site and social accounts. Some also post afternoon cancellations when weather turns during the day.

+Is there a snow day tomorrow?

Open the snow day predictor: it gives each city a chance from the Environment Canada forecast (overnight snow, freezing rain, blowing snow, extreme cold and warnings) and updates every 15 minutes.
